6 Day Winter Break Sunshine Coast, Queensland

DAY 1 (D) NARACOORTE TO THE SUNSHINE COAST: Monday 27 July 2026

Welcome to our 6 day Winter Sun Tour to the Sunshine Coast. We will depart from Naracoorte for the transfer to Adelaide Airport to connect with our non stop flight to Brisbane. (Virgin Australia Flight VA1393 departs Adelaide at 11.50 am/Arrives Brisbane at 2.45pm). On arrival our locally based partner touring company will be waiting at Brisbane Airport. Once we have loaded our luggage we are ready to head north to Caloundra. Our accommodation for the next 5 nights is at The Oakes Sunshine Coast Oasis Resort – great rooms, walk in showers, delightful restaurant and extensive gardens. It will be a relaxing place to stay. (Meal inclusions: Welcome dinner)

DAY 2 (BDL) Sealife, Castles and Ginger
Tuesday 28 July 2026

This morning we visit the Sealife Sunshine Coast Aquarium - the largest oceanarium in the Southern Hemisphere. We’ll ride on moving footways through clear underwater tunnels and watch the tropical fish, huge rays and sharks. This is our chance to go diving without getting wet! From here, we head to Bli Bli (aboriginal word meaning many swamp oak trees) to visit Sunshine Castle. The castle has been built in much the same way as castles all around the world. It’s a Norman style Castle, with medieval additions, complete with moat, turrets, towers and drawbridge - unique in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere. We have a brief, self guided tour, before heading over to the Ginger Factory at Yandina for lunch. During our visit this afternoon we will see the audio visual display, tracing the life of ginger from planting to final use, see ginger growing in the patch and then view the factory from the observation deck. We also enjoy a tour on the Ginger train. On our way back to Caloundra we stop at the famous Banana Bender Pub. Formerly known as the Ettamogah Pub, the pub stands tall alongside the equally legendary Aussie World theme park, both of which opened in 1989. After a great day we head back to the Oaks Sunshine Coast Oasis Resort. (Meal Inclusions: Breakfast/Light lunch/Dinner

DAY 3 (BD) Eumundi & Everglades
Wednesday 29 July 2026

An early start this morning as we’re off to the Eumundi Markets! The twice weekly street markets held in the small village of Eumundi are as popular with the locals as they are with visitors to the Sunshine Coast. The town itself is very attractive – the main street is tree lined and features many fine examples of buildings that were constructed between 1890 and 1930. The market operates on Wednesday and Saturday mornings – “rail, hail or shine”! 300 stalls of various handcrafts and produce are controlled by a strict market policy – you can sell your goods if you “can make it, bake it, sew it or grow it”. As a result a very high quality of original product is on offer. We will spend some time at the markets before heading to Noosa. On our arrival, we’ll have some free time to browse this cosmopolitan village and purchase some lunch. Early afternoon we join Everglades River Cruise – four hours of relaxation as we cruise through the Cooloola National Park. Back on dry land, we’ll take the coast road through Perigian Beach and Coolum down to Caloundra. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast/Dinner)

DAY 4 (B) THE AUSTRALIA ZOO
Thursday 30 July 2026

This morning we head to the nearby Australia Zoo. No visit to the Sunshine Coast would be complete without a visit to Australia Zoo – home, of course, to the late Steve Irwin, the “crocodile hunter”. Australia Zoo is a tourism award facility that has a reputation for conservation work, due mainly to the popularity of the documentary series “The Crocodile Hunter”. Many millions of dollars have been invested in the park so that it is an ever changing and growing attraction. We’ll arrive early enough to take a walk around the zoo, maybe to see the cheeky otters and their cute antics at their 10 o’clock feeding, or perhaps learn about the Galapagos Land Tortoises as they munch through their breakfast using serrated jaws. We can hand feed the elephants before we take our seats in the “Crocoseum” for all the action in the centre stage. First of all there’s “Snakes Alive”, followed by the playing tigers. Next is the free flying bird show - watch as kookaburras, Wedge-tail Eagles, owls, falcons and our beautiful South American Macaws free-fly around the Crocoseum. We can learn more about these magnificent birds as they swoop and soar right over our heads! Now of course, we’ll want to see the crocs. The keepers will bring them out into the clear water so we can see them as they would hunt in the wild…doing their best to get the “big piece of meat” (the croc team that is!). There are many other scheduled demonstrations during the day and the chance to be photographed with a giant python. A people mover is available to access the various parts of the park. After a great day we head back to Caloundra. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast/Light lunch at Australia Zoo/Dinner)

DAY 5 (BLD) MONTVILLE, MALENY & THE BLACKALL RANGE: Friday 31 July 2026

We have a day of spectacular scenery today as we head up into the Blackall Range. First stop is at the historic town of Landsborough where we make a stop at the Landsborough Historical Museum. The original Landsborough Shire Council Chambers were designed in 1924 by renowned architect Walter Carey Voller and built from local timbers supplied by A.E. Round. In 1988 using funding from the Bi-centenary, the old building was revamped and a new building of mud brick construction was added. The complex was reopened on Australia Day in 1988 by J.L. Beausang the last chairman of Landsborough Shire and first mayor of Caloundra City. We take a look before the drive up to Montville to the top of the Blackall Range. Montville, probably the most well-known village along the range. First established in 1887, Montville today is a place to step back in time and enjoy the tranquility of village life in a streetscape unique to any other tourist centre in Australia. We have some free time to browse the many craft shops and art galleries before continuing to Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve on the southern edge of the Blackall Range, overlooking the unique formations of the Glasshouse Mountains. The view is spectacular – don’t forget to bring the camera – and its also a great spot to enjoy our picnic lunches! Our final stop of the day is at Malaney Mountain Wines for a tasting before heading back to Caloundra. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast/Picnic lunch/Dinner)

DAY 6 (B) HEADING HOME Saturday 01 August 2026

(Virgin Australia Flight VA364 Departs Brisbane at 9.35am/Arrives Melbourne at 12noon).
